Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: sw Wind Stength: 8/12 Surf / Sea State: flat Air Temperature: 8 Sea Temperature: 8 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 13.04 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 12 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Woke up to a nice sunny day and decided to take my kit to Levington with
the forecast 20 gusting 30 turning into 8 gusting 12 but thats Felixstowe
for you !!! still saw the waxwings on the way again :) The tide wasn't that
brilliant either having just missed high water I rigged my biggest kit and
headed out - sailing into the bay first and then turning up the River
Orwell toward Ipswich. I had some excitment in front of the marina as 12
large yachts with spinackers flying were heading straight towards me after
just starting a Boxing Day race !!! I managed to miss them and continued to
beat up river passing again huge flocks of waders :) an magnifcent sight
!!! I past Pin Pin and continued to Woolverstone where there were loads of
dinghies out racing, past loads of walkers out at Nacton shores and
finishing at the Orwell Bridge - 30 years old last week :) There was a ship
leaving Ipswich docks so I had to wait for it to pass before sailing under
, I actually sailed both ways under the bridge without falling in !!! and
then it was the 5/6 mile runny/reach back in winds getting lighter all the
time but at least I had the tide with me :) So a nice couple of hours out
in the sun even if abit slow going !
